Summary
Pocket notebook compiled by William Smellie (d. ca. 1756?), weaver, of the Scottish lowland town of Hamilton, south east of Glasgow. It includes twelve simple diagrams for weaving patterns together with miscellaneous notes recording different fabric purchases and sales with prices. The notebook is accompanied by two manuscript burgess tickets, one for William Smellie, dated 1693, and another for John Smellie, dated 1732, presumably a son who may have used the book after his father's death.
