William Simons (W. S.) Mills and Sarah Nettleton Mills lived in Lincoln County, Nevada, where W. S. worked as the manager of the Southwest Mining Company. W. S. and Sarah Mills's children included Leof Mills Waterhouse, Lyra Mills, Carrie Mills, Flynt Mills, and Amelia Mills.
Summary
Approximately 170 autograph letters, signed, among the Mills family, particularly William Simons (W. S.) Mills, his wife, Sarah Nettleton Mills, and their daughter, Leof Mills Waterhouse. W. S. Mills discusses his tenure managing the Southwestern Mining Company of El Dorado Canyon, Lincoln County, Nevada and describes life in the mines. Letters from Sarah Nettleton Mills describe her life in Lincoln County, as well as her trips to the San Francisco Bay. Also includes the social and family correspondence of Leof Waterhouse Mills and her sisters Lyra, Amelia, and Carrie, as well as other relations. The sisters and other family members discuss social matters, national politics, and the Civil War.
