Summary
Collection of writings, correspondence, and other papers by or relating to American author Jesse Stuart. Correspondence features a file of approximately 91 letters, dating from 1947 to 1960, from Stuart to the historian and collector of Kentuckiana, John Wilson Townsend. Letters address personal and literary matters, Kentucky history, and other topics. Writings include drafts of two poems by Stuart, typescript, corrected, with proofreaders' marks and printer's annotations, and "unrevised proofs," corrected, with proofreaders' marks, of Stuart's autobiographical work, The Year of My Rebirth (New York: McGraw-Hill Book Company, Inc., 1956). Other papers include three black-and-white photographs of Stuart dating from roughly 1941 to 1960.
