Adrien Stoutenburg (1916-1982), American poet and children's book author.

Collection of drafts and copies of poems by American poet Adrien Stoutenberg. Writings include groups of drafts and copies of poems assembled by Stoutenburg and a proof copy of Land of Superior Mirages: New and Selected Poems, edited by David R. Slavitt and published by Johns Hopkins Press in 1986. The drafts and copies of poems, chiefly typescript and typescript carbon, many corrected and heavily annotated, include such headings as "Early Poetry," "Poems for Book 4," and "Poems Published." The proof copy consists of a photocopy of typescript drafts and printed versions of poems, corrected and with proofreaders' marks. Many poems are also annotated with publication information, and there is a list, by title, documenting rejections and acceptances for the period from 1969 through 1975.
