Collection of archival material concerning Eileen Hogan's The poetry box (2003), a "text and image artwork presented as a game investigating the relationship between words and images and exploring the conventions of portraiture" (see artist's website: http://eileenhogan.co.uk/portfolio-item/the-poetry-box/).

The collection includes 98 paintings (portraits of poets and the accompanying images) used as artwork for The poetry box; 19 portraits completed but not used; 4 images completed but not used; and 9 studies.

Also included are: 1 copy of the published version of The poetry box; 1 binder of correspondence concerning The poetry box; 1 binder concerning the production of The poetry box; 1 catalog for the V & A exhibition, "Acts of renewal: Japanese art re-interpreted," 2001; label for The poetry box from "Acts of renewal" and 43 booklets from the box; 9 sheets of proofs for The poetry box cards (portraits and images); 3 publications for The poetry box; proof pages for publication; recordings of selectors talking about their reasons for their choices.
