Biographical / Historical Note
The Kanomata family were Japanese Americans in Pocatello, Idaho in the twentieth century. Sumi (also spelled Samie) Kanomata (1918-1992) attended high school in Pocatello. She received a bachelor's degree from the University of Idaho in 1938 and lived in Japan for several years, where her daughter Anne Miwa Kanomata (1941-) was born. Sumi Kanomata returned to Idaho and became a civil servant in the 1950s.
