Summary
"Dīwān" (Collected poems) of Abū Tammām Ḥabīb ibn Aws al-Ṭāʼī (active 808-842), one of the most prominent poets of the ninth century, born in the village of Jāsim (in Ḥawrān, Syria), traveled to Egypt and was invited to Baghdad by the Abbasid Caliph al-Muʻtaṣim (794?-842), who favored him, and was given the position of postmaster of "Barīd al-Mawṣil" in Mosul (Iraq), where he died. The present copy is according to the arrangement of Abū Bakr Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyá al-Ṣūlī (died approximately 947), a prominent scholar and an authority on Abū Tammām and his poetry. Copied on 12 Tishrīn al-Awwal (October), 1856, by ʻAbd al-Aḥad Karjī. Place of copying not mentioned.
