Biographical / Historical Note
Jeanie MacPherson (1887-1946) was an American screenwriter, actress, and director known for her collaboration with filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille, for whom she wrote 30 films. Her screenplay Joan the Woman, a silent biographical drama on Joan of Arc, based on the 1801 German play Die Jungfrau von Orleans by Friedrich Schiller, was DeMille's first historical film and starred Geraldine Farrar in the lead role. The film was produced by Famous Players-Lasky Corporation, released in December 1916 and distributed by Paramount Pictures Corporation.
