Incipit: "Bismillāh al-Raḥmān al-Raḥīm, wa-bi-hi al-iʻānah, wa-bi-hi nastaʻīn. Ḥamdan li-man manna ʻalaynā bi-al-niʻam al-wāfirah allatī min jumlatihā ittiṣāl al-sanad. Wa-ṣalātan wa-salāman ʻalá afḍal man ḥumida min al-khalq, wa-ʻalá ālihi wa-ṣaḥbihi wa-muḥibbīhi wa-ḥizbih. Ammā baʻd, fa-yaqūlu al-ʻabd al-faqīr Muḥammad ibn al-Imām al-Amīr, ʻāmalahu Allāh bi-luṭfihi wa-jabara qalbahu al-kasīr: Qad manna Allāh, subḥānuhu, min faḍlihi, wa-la-hu al-ḥamdu wa-al-minnah ʻalá ʻabīdihi, bi-akhdh 'Musalsal ʻĀshūrāʼ' ʻalá ustādhihi wālidihi mirāran ʻadīdah fī sinīn, bi-ḥaḍrat jamʻ min fuḍalāʼ al-anām wa-ʻulamāʼ al-Islām ..."
البداية: "بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم، وبه الإعانة، وبه نستعين. حمدًا لمن منّ علينا بالنعم الوافرة التي من جملتها اتّصال السند. وصلاةً وسلامًا على أفضل من حمد من الخلق، وعلى آله وصحبه ومحبّيه وحزبه. أمّا بعد، فيقول العبد الفقير محمد بن الإمام الأمير، عامله الله بلطفه وجبر قلبه الكسير: قد منّ الله، سبحانه، من فضله، وله الحمد والمنّة على عبيده، بأخذ 'مسلسل عاشوراء' على أستاذه والده مرارًا عديدة في سنين، بحضرة جمع من فضلاء الأنام وعلماء الإسلام ..."

"Musalsal ʻĀshurāʼ" is in fair naskh script, in black ink, on white paper; keywords in red; some notes and corrections on the margins; catchwords. The wrapper is written in fair ruqʻah script, in purple.
On folio 1a: "Hādhā al-Ḥadīth al-musalsal bi-yawm ʻĀshūrāʼ, taʼlīf al-Shaykh Muḥammad al-Amīr, nafaʻanā Allāh bi-hi. Wa-ṣallá Allāh ʻalá Sayyidinā Muḥammad, wa-ʻalá ālihi wa-ṣaḥbihi wa-sallam.
على وجه الورقة 1: "هذا الحديث المسلسل بيوم عاشوراء، تأليف الشيخ محمد الأمير، نفعنا الله به. وصلى الله على سيدنا محمد، وعلى آله وصحبه وسلم.
The wrapper is a handwritten sample Egyptian court form, undated, titled "Ṣūrat indhār" (Warning "sample" form), in 25 lines. It starts with: "Ṣūrat indhār. Innahu fī yawm ----- bināʼan ʻalá ṭalab al-Sayyid Khalīl al-Zarrū, tājir minī fātūrah, bi-Shāriʻ Amīr al-Juyūsh, tabaʻ Qism al-Jamālīyah ...". It ends with: "... Wa-li-ajl an yakūna dhālika maʻlūman ṭaraf al-muʻlan ilayhā, qad turikat wa-sullimat ilayhā nuskhah minhādhā [min hādhā] al-indhār bi-maḥall iqāmatihā, mutakallaman, kamā dhukira aʻlāh wa-bulligh. Rasm hādhā Millīm -----."
غلاف المخطوطة صحيفة ورقية مطوية مخطوطة، تحتوي نموذج وثيقة من محكمة مصرية، غير مؤرّخة، بعنوان "صورة إنذار". تبدأ بـِ: "صورة إنذار. إنّه في يوم ----- بناءً على طلب السيد خليل الزرو، تاجر مني فاتورة، بشارع أمير الجيوش، تبع قسم الجمالية ...". وتنتهي بـِ: "... ولأجل أن يكون ذلك معلومًا طرف المعلن إليها، قد تركت وسلّمت إليها نسخة منهذا [من هذا] الإنذار بمحل إقامتها، متكلمًا، كما ذكر أعلاه وبلّغ. رسم هذا مليم -----."
Colophon: "Wa-kāna al-farāgh min kitābat hādhihi al-risālah yawm al-Aḥad, fī 9 khalat min shahr Muḥarram, sanat 1258, thamāniyah <thamāniyah> wa-khamsīn [wa-miʼatayn] wa-alf, ʻalá yad al-ʻabd al-faqīr Ḥusayn al-Nazlī. Kātibuhu al-faqīr al-ḥaqīr Ḥusayn al-Nazlī al-Shāmī al-Shāfiʻī, ghafara Allāh la-hu. Āmīn. Kutibat hādhihi al-risālah fī al-Jāmiʻ al-Azhar." At the left of the colophon, over "al-Nuzlī", a continuation of the name of the copyist, as follows: "Ibn Ṭāhā ibn Saʻd al-Adham, ghafara Allāh la-hu wa-li-wālidayhi."
الخاتمة: "وكان الفراغ من كتابة هذه الرسالة يوم الأحد، في 9 خلت من شهر محرم، سنة 1258، ثمانية <ثمانية> وخمسين [ومائتين] وألف، على يد العبد الفقير حسين النزلي. كاتبه الفقير الحقير حسين النزلي الشامي الشافعي، غفر الله له. آمين. كتبت هذه الرسالة في الجامع الأزهر." وعلى يسار الخاتمة، فوق كلمة "النزلي"، تكملة لاسم الناسخ، كما يلي: "ابن طه بن سعد الأدهم، غفر الله له ولوالديه."
Translation of the colophon: "This epistle was copied on Sunday, 9 days having passed from the month of Muḥarram, of the year 1258 [of the Hijrah = 20 February 1842], by the hand of the poor servant Ḥusayn al-Nazlī. Its copyist the poor and wretched Ḥusayn al-Nazlī al-Shāmī al-Shāfiʻī, may God forgive him. Amen. This epistle was copied at al-Jāmiʻ al-Azhar." At the left of the colophon, over "al-Nuzlī", a continuation of the name of the copyist, as follows: "Ibn Ṭāhā ibn Saʻd al-Adham, may God forgive him and his parents."

Summary
"al-Ḥadīth al-musalsal bi-yawm ʻĀshūrāʼ." A Ḥadīth on ʻĀshūrāʼ (the tenth day of al-Muḥarram), a commemoration of the Battle of Karbalāʼ and the death of Imām Ḥusayn, the grandson of the Prophet Muḥammad, including the "musalsal" of the Ḥadīth (i.e., the chain of transmitters/authorities). The author states in the incipit that he took (audited) the "musalsal" several times from his teacher (his own father: al-Amīr al-Kabīr, Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad, 1742-1817). Copied on Sunday, nine days having passed from the month of Muḥarram, of the year 1258 of the Hijrah (20 February 1842), at al-Jāmiʻ al-Azhar (in Cairo), by Ḥusayn al-Nazlī al-Shāmī al-Shāfiʻī.
