Summary
Manuscript naval freight book, unsigned, kept by John Ashmead on five voyages of the brig Betsey and three of the brig Phoebe, trading soap, bread, rice, and other goods between Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Charleston, South Carolina, 1786-1787. Enslaved people, identified as "Mulattos," are occasionally listed in the brigs' cargoes.
