Vincent Sheean (1899-1975) was an American journalist and novelist.
Harry E. Maule (1886-1971) was an American book publishing executive and editor.
Summary
Typescript letters, signed, from Vincent Sheean to Harry E. Maule. Sheean's letters discuss his writing; publishing matters, specifically with Brandt & Brandt; and personal matters, including his wife Diana Forbes-Robertson getting a divorce from Sheean in Reno, Nevada, and Dorothy Thompson's personal life. Includes typescript copies of Sheean's opinion articles, with manuscript corrections, discussing the United Nations, Winston Churchill, and more. One article, titled "In the Via Dante", has an ink stamp on the first page that says "No Objection to Publication, Bureau of Public Relations, War Department, Washington". Also includes newspaper clippings discussing the work and death of Hubert Skidmore.
