Percy Fitzgerald (1834-1925) was an Irish author, editor, critic, painter, and sculptor who lived and worked in London.
Summary
Collection of circa 107 autograph manuscript letters, signed, received by Percy Hetherington Fitzgerald from various literary figures, including Augustine Birrell, Rhoda Broughton, Oscar Browning, F. C. Burnand, Henry Fothergill Chorley, Edward Gordon Craig, S. C. Hall, Augustus J. C. Hare, Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu, Sir Sidney Lee, Wilfred Meynell, J. R. Planché, Henry B. Wheatley, and more. Letters discuss Fitzgerald’s books, his lectures, portrait busts, and matters relating to Charles Dickens. Also includes a manuscript invitation addressed to Fitzgerald, inviting him to a private viewing of Sir Hubert von Herkomer's film "The Chapel of the Charter-House". Invitation includes a pen sketch of an unidentified man, possibly drawn by Fitzgerald.
