Summary
"Nuzhat al-mushtāq fī ikhtirāq al-āfāq" (Picnic of the desirous for breaking through the horizons), a well-known book on Arab and Medieval geography, by al-Sharīf al-Idrīs, Abū ʻAbd Allāh Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad, a prolific author, geographer, cartographer, botanist, astronomer, etc., born and died in Sabtah "Ceuta" (on the northwest coast of Africa, located at the Mediterranean entrance to the Strait of Gibraltar), lived in Sicily (Italy), during the reign of Roger II, the Norman king of Sicily (1095-1154), for whom he composed his book. The present manuscript is "al-Juzʼ al-thānī" (Part two), it comprises few excerpts (folios 4a-6a) with notes in Latin by an unidentified author. The rest of the leaves of the codex are blank. Written in the year 1828. Place not mentioned.
