André Dunoyer de Segonzac (1884-1974) was a French artist.
Richard Heyd (1910-1959) was a Swiss publisher and photographer. He was head of the publishing house Ides et Calends, based in Neuchâtel, Switzerland.
Summary
Two autograph manuscript letters, signed, to Richard Heyd, discussing an etching by Dunoyer de Segonzac of French author André Gide. The portrait was used by Heyd and the publisher Ides et Calends as the frontispiece of an edition of Gide's Thésée (1947). Includes two cancelled proofs of the portrait, each inscribed and signed by Dunoyer de Segonzac. Accompanied by manuscript and typescript translations of the letters and the inscriptions on the prints.
