Biographical / Historical Note
Tamar R. Stone is a New York-based artist. She received a BFA from Pratt Institute in 1985, and a MFA from NYU in 1991.

The collection consists of production files relating to Tamar R. Stone's artists' books Gracefulness of Motion is Delightful ... (2003), Upholstered Cage (2005), What to Wear, Vol. 2: Perfect Figure, Graceful Lines, and the Re-birth of Charm (2006), Health, Strength, Grace and Symmetry, Vol. 1 (2007), Individual Design Support (2008), and Dress Versus Woman (2010). The files include: drafts; research materials, including copies of patents and advertisements; source photographs, including 19th century cartes-de-visite; book dummies and mock-ups; printing proofs, including iris prints on textiles; embroidery tests; textile samples; and correspondence with embroiderer Marilyn Sullivan of Sullivan's Shirts and printers at Silicon Gallery Fine Art Prints. Includes two CDs containing files with descriptions of the books, copies of research materials, photographs, and video stills.
