Biographical / Historical Note
William Thomas Stead was born in 1849 in Northumberland, England. As a journalist and editor he was an influential advocate of political and social reform, a champion of Cecil Rhodes, and a supporter of peace campaigns. He died in 1912 on the voyage of the Titanic.
Summary
The papers consist of letters by or about Cecil J. Rhodes, including twenty four items of correspondence between William Thomas Stead and Cecil J. Rhodes. The letters, all from the Stead Papers, are MSS Cat. No. 756 in the Rhodes House Library.
