Collection of manuscripts pertaining to matters of state in the 16th and 17th century, to Sir Edward Coke and to a wide range of legal subjects. Many of the items are contemporary ms. copies of the originals, others are authentic, e.g. Sir Edward Coke's Exceptions to the sheriff's oath (f. 138) and his notes on various subjects (f. 157). Also an original letter of Justice Sir Thomas Walmesley to Sir Edward Coke (f. 83) with his signature.
