The collection consists of seven letters written by William Morris to friends and acquaintances, and a group of autograph manuscripts by him. One manuscript, "The Wood Beyond the World," is accompanied by a drawing made for the book by Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones, and two impressions of the resulting engraving.

Abstract
The collection consists of seven letters written by William Morris to friends and acquaintances, and a group of autograph manuscripts by Morris. One manuscript, "The Wood Beyond the World," is accompanied by a drawing made for the book by Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones, and two impressions of the resulting engraving. Also present is a letter to the American collector Dean Sage regarding one of the manuscripts.
William Morris (1834-1896)
William Morris was an English designer, artist, writer, and socialist associated with the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and the English Arts and Crafts Movement.

Opening Hours
Access Information
The Beinecke Library is open to all Yale University students and faculty, and visiting researchers whose work requires use of its special collections. You will need to bring appropriate photo ID the first time you register. Beinecke is a non-circulating, closed stack library. Paging is done by library staff during business hours. You can request collection material online at least two business days in advance of your visit, using the request links in Archives at Yale.
