Collection consists of Program note, Score for The performance, Score for The purgation, and a pamphlet, The Franklin Furnace Archive 1983-84 annual report.

The first part of the score (The performance) is for amplified alarm clocks and smoke detectors, smoke producing devices, and tape; the second section part of the score (The purgation) is for one or more tapes and 8 or more loudspeakers; the work is set up to be performed without people.

Included in the tape is Leroy Anderson's The syncopated clock as well as a variety of clock related music.
