Biographical / Historical Note
Much of the material was collected by Alf Swensen, a chemistry professor who chaired the Wartburg College Artist Series from 1921 to 1968. His son and daughter-in-law, Richard D. and Grace H. Swensen, continued the collection and donated it to Yale University. Their son, David F. Swensen, manages the Yale endowment and also serves on the faculty of Yale College and the Yale School of Management.
