Jean-Paul Sartre, French philosopher and author. Sartre founded the literary and political review Les temps modernes in 1945 October. His essay Matérialisme et révolution was published in Les temps modernes in two parts: Le mythe révolutionnaire (1re année, no. 9, 1946 June 1) and La philosophie de la révolution (1re année, no. 10, 1946 July 1).
