Biographical / Historical Note
Ouida (1839-1908), born Maria Louise Ramé in Bury St. Edmunds, England, wrote more than forty novels, children's books, and collections of essays. Her most popular novel was probably Under Two Flags (1867).
Summary
Collection of autograph letters, signed, from Ouida to various correspondents, mostly unidentified. One group of twenty-six letters discusses a possible dramatic adaptation of her novel The Masserenes (1897); other notes comment on social engagements, make appointments, and send brief personal news.
