Notes
A collection of glossy, high relief, brightly colored die-cut cards on stiff paper, all depicting Jewish life in America in the early 20th century. Sometimes described as "cut-around-shape' cards.
Nine of the 49 have imprints, either Fuld & Co., New York, or Hebrew Publishing Co., and nine of the 49 have dates from 1906 to 1909.
Some cards have captions, usually in Hebrew (or Yiddish?); two are in German.
Collection includes four sets of duplicates, two of which consist of the same image printed in two different sizes.
Summary
Contemporary scenes include arriving in New York after the ocean voyage, services in the synagogue, family worship and celebration, religious instruction, weddings. Old Testament scenes include Joseph sold into slavery, Samson destroying the Temple, Solomon's counsel, Moses in the bullrushes, Abraham and Isaac, King David.
