Summary
Reviews the Mandates Information Act (H.R. 350), which would place new procedural restrictions on congressional consideration of legislation imposing "unfunded mandates" on the private sector. Examines current procedures for intergovernmental mandates under Unfunded Mandates Reform Act (UMRA) of 1994, extension of UMRA restrictions to private sector mandates, exemption of certain mandates, and procedures governing consideration of legislation containing mandates.
