Forced to wear a pink triangle, Brazda survived three years in Buchenwald. After his liberation, Brazda lived in Alsace until his death. Morin weaves Brazda's story with the German folktale of The White Maiden.

|a Sewn binding of matching paper covers; gatherings with spine trim of pink paper printed with colored Czechoslovakian stamps; front cover features an image that runs throughout the book of Buchenwald's architectural silhouette and its main gate, containing the motto "Jedem das Seine" (meaning "to each his own" or "to each what he deserves"). Issued in lidded aluminum box, half of which is lined with pink paper and half with paper printed with Nazi stamps; includes a pink silk ribbon pull to assist in removal; the lid of the box is embossed with numbers "7952" (Brazda's Buchenwald number?), the number in the edition, and "SBP".
