Biographical / Historical Note
Charles A. Morse was a resident of Faulkton, South Dakota, where his father, George A. Morse, was mayor, and his brother, A. W. Morse, was a banker.
Mabel A. Rogers Morse was a resident of Amesbury, Massachusetts who relocated to Faulkton, South Dakota following her marriage to Charles A. Morse in the 1890s.
Summary
Autograph letters, signed, between Charles A. Morse and his fiancée and wife, Mabel A. Rogers Morse. The bulk of the letters were written from Charles to Mabel from Faulkton, South Dakota. Morse describes his life in the West, his family's prosperity, his literary and philosophical ideals, and his engagement with the local Christian community. Letters from Mabel to Charles and among Mabel, Charles, and members of Mabel's family are also included, as is an undated photograph of an unidentified man; printed ephemera from local events in Faulkton,1865-1901; and newspaper clippings about local events, 1891.
