Summary
The collection consists of an autograph letter signed and dated September 28, 1906, from Winston Churchill to Arthur Hutton regarding a speech on West African railway and river development Churchill delivered at the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce on May 5, 1906, with a galley proof of the speech with manuscript corrections by Churchill; an autograph letter signed and dated March 30, 1924, from Churchill to Henry Craik regarding Churchill's recent House of Commons election defeat; a typed memorandum of agreement with G. P. Putnam's Sons signed and annotated by Churchill regarding the terms of publication of the American edition of Churchill's book Great Contemporaries; a caricature print of Churchill by Spy (pseudonym for Sir Leslie Matthews Ward) published by Vanity Fair and dated September 27, 1900; a copy of an undated photograph of Churchill by Cecil Beaton with the caption, "The Man at the Helm"; a New York Herald Tribune editorial cartoon by Vaughn Shoemaker dated March 20, 1958, entitled "Finishing Touches"; and a poster for an exhibition of paintings by Churchill at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York in 1958.
