Biographical / Historical Note
Michael De Lisio was born in New York on January 22, 1911. After a start as a poet, he had a successful career in public relations before turning to sculpting portraits of writers and other cultural figures in 1965. De Lisio returned to poetry in the 1990s when his eyesight began to fail, and he died in New York on January 21, 2003.
Ezra Pound (1885-1972), American expatriate poet and critic of the early modernist movement.
Summary
Full-length standing portrait of the American author Ezra Pound modeled in terra cotta. He wears a hat, an overcoat, and a long scarf, and clasps his eyeglasses in his right hand. It is signed at the bottom edge on the back of Pound's coat: De Lisio/Capri 1968.
