Biographical / Historical Note
The Knickerbocker Field Club was established in 1889 as a tennis club by local residents of Flatbush, Brooklyn, New York. In 1893, the members built a clubhouse on East 18th Street and Tennis Court, which served as a gymnasium and dining area, as well as a playhouse for amateur theater performances by the club's Dramatic Corps. The original clubhouse was replaced with a modern structure after a fire destroyed the building in 1988.
