Alexandre Dumas (1802-1870) was a French writer whose works include Comte de Monte-Cristo and Trois mousquetaires. He was the father of Alexandre Dumas (1824-1895), the novelist and playwright.
Summary
Collection includes autograph manuscripts, signed and undated, including "À M. Perego," "L'Albanie," "Garibaldi," "Les memoires de M. de Paris," accompanied by two autograph letters, signed, from Harry A. Spurr to H. F. Vories dated 1902-1903, and a manuscript poem by Dumas, "À madame Comtesse Reviezki," in an unidentified hand; contracts and other legal documents and correspondence with editor and publisher Michel Lévy, and Dumas' literary collaborators Auguste Maquet and Paul Meurice, dated 1845-1872; several undated autograph letters, signed, to unidentified recipients; and an undated cabinet photograph of Dumas.
