Summary
Electronic reproduction of wartime posters selected from the collections of the Imperial War Museums. The selection of more than 170 posters includes many aimed at encouraging recruitment in Britain, Australia, India, Germany, Italy and Ireland, as well as those advertising war loans and war bonds. The posters designed to motivate enlistment use imagery ranging from promises of adventure and wealth to calls upon the consciences of those not yet serving. Interesting comparisons can be made among the styles preferred by the various nations represented.
