Summary
Illustration of a black-hooded oriole (Oriolus xanthornus ceylonensis), by an unidentified artist, late 19th century. The body of the species is formed by real bird feathers; the remainder of the picture is supplied with watercolor. The image depicts the oriole perched upon a small stub of a tree. The back of the sheet is inscribed: "Oriolus ceylonensis [illegible]."
