The first part of the book contains the index which is filled in. The body of the book contains "cures" and medical recipes for a large variety of household ailments. Some recipes are attributed to others including to physicians such as Daniel Sutton's improved method of inoculation for smallpox or Dr. {William] Heberden's recipe for the cure of ague. A few recipes are for farm animals, such as a purge for a horse. Some case histories with recipes have copied from published sources such as the Pubic Advertiser (London).
