Summary
Focusing on the mansions of the Victorian era, this video opens with a tour of the Ottawa, Ontario home (now a private club) built by lumber tycoon Jon R. Booth. It discusses how such Victorian features as stained glass and large greeting areas reflect emphases on ritual and social gatherings in the home. It then visits an Italianate residential mansion in the Ottawa Valley and the formidable Queen Anne Inn in Annapolis, Nova Scotia, once a residence and now a bed-and-breakfast.
