Biographical / Historical Note
Anthony Fowle (born 1602) served as Justice of the Peace for Kent and Sussex during the mid-seventeenth century. He married Margaret Jefferay in 1639.
Summary
Autograph manuscript, on paper, containing memoranda and genealogical charts. The volume opens with entries concerning the charters for the Cinque Ports and instructions and document copies concerning the government's right to requistion timber for national defense purposes from parishes in Kent and Sussex. These are followed by sixty-three genealogical charts concerning the pedigrees of noble English families, concluding with three pages of notes on the descent of Margaret Jefferay and a two-page chart on the descent of King Charles I.
