Script: writtten in an informal gothic with a moderate number of abbreviations. Marginal glosses written in a heavily abbreviated informal bookhand.
Decoration: alternating red and blue multi-line initials with contrasting penwork and decorative cadels; ascenders and descenders are heightened in the first and last lines of the text block; portions of introductory sentences to sections are rubricated.
In Latin.
Provenance
Purchased from King Alfred's Notebook. Owned by Coella Lindsay Ricketts; broken when sold in 1980 (Sotheby's 24 June 1980 lot 59).
