Title
The Lidgbird anthology : a seventeenth-century reader's compilation of literary extracts from nearly one hundred unusual books, ca. 1665 : a recent acquisition for the Elizabethan Club of Yale University.
Summary
"'The Lidgbird anthology' is an ordinary-appearing small octavo bound in early eighteenth-century paneled calf containing notes and excerpts from printed and manuscript sources, dating from the Elizabethan period to the period of its composition, ca. 1660-65. There are about one hundred works cited; clearly the unknown compiler had access to a sizable library. The research potential of the manuscript is considerable; the sources quoted, printed or manuscript, are often themselves significant rarities or sources that are not known to survive"--Page 1.
