Rise Studio was a photographic studio in Rapid City, South Dakota, operated by Carl H. Rise (1888-1939), an optometrist and photographer.
Summary
Photograph album of sites in the Black Hills, South Dakota, circa 1930-1935. Many images document places along Needles Highway (South Dakota Highway 87), including Sentinel Rock. Sites in Custer State Park include Cathedral Spires, the Mount Coolidge Lookout Tower, Needles Eye, the Needles Eye Tunnel, the State Game Lodge, and Sylvan Lake. Other sites in South Dakota include Ice Box Canyon and Rough Lock Falls, as well as a view of sculptor Gutzon Borglum inspecting work on the face of George Washington at the Mount Rushmore National Memorial, circa 1932.
