On the original analog discs, the orchestra was identified by pseudonyums (e.g. "Vienna Philharmonia Orchestra") but was always actually the Vienna Symphony (Wiener Symphoniker).

Except for the broadcast performance of Sym. 6, these recordings were originally issued in the 1950s on SPA & Unicorn analog discs: SPA 72 (Mass), SPA 25-26 (Overture & Sym. 9), SPA 30-31 (Sym. 3), & Unicorn UNLA 1015 (Sym. 1)
Biographical notes about the conductor & his performances by Mark W. Kluge, & technical notes on the recordings by Aaron Z. Snyder (26 pages) inserted in container.
Recorded in Vienna between 1952 & 1956, the 6th Symphony from a live performance broadcast of Feb. 17, 1952.
