This series contains original correspondence and entry books of the New Zealand Company which were handed over to the Colonial Office after the surrender of the company's charters in 1850. Also included are minutes, accounts, registers of emigrants and land transfers records.

Description: Original despatches from Wellington. Includes correspondence to the secretary of the New Zealand Land Co. from agents in Wellington. Letters touch on themes of commerce (banks), land settlement (particularly Otago), settlers' relationship with native peoples, purchase of land from Maori iincluding a deed of purchase for the Taranaki district, and the establishment of Church of England. Also included is a New Zealand church almanac for 1845.
