Summary
"Anwār al-tanzīl wa-asrār al-taʼwīl" (Lights of revelation and secrets of interpretation), also known by the title "Tafsīr al-Bayḍāwī" (Commentary of al-Bayḍāwī), a commentary on the Qurʼān by ʻAbd Allāh ibn ʻUmar al-Bayḍāwī, a well-known Shāfiʻī scholar, born in al-Madīnah al-Bayḍāʼ (near Shīrāz, Iran), a judge, Qurʼān commentator, historian and philologist, who wrote in both Arabic and Persian, died in Tabrīz (Iran), in 1286?. The present manuscript covers the first five chapters of the Qurʼān (al-Fātiḥah, al-Baqarah, Āl ʻImrān, al-Nisāʼ, al-Māʼidah). Name of copyist and place and date of copying not mentioned, probably from the 18th century.
