'al-Ḥamdu lillāh alladhī anzala ʻalá ʻabdihi al-Kitāb', yaʻnaī al-Qurʼān. Rattaba istiḥqāq al-ḥamd ʻalá inzālihi, tanbīhan ʻalá annahu aʻẓamu naʻmāʼihi, wadhālika li-annahu al-hādī ilá mā fīhi kamāl al-ʻibād, fa-yakūnu waṣfan la-hu wa-al-dāʻī ilá mā bi-hi yantaẓimu ṣalāḥ al-maʻāsh wa-al-maʻād ..."
البداية: "سورة الكهف مكية، وقيل إلّا قوله تعالى 'واصبر نفسك'، الآية. وهي مائة وإحدى عشرة آية. بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم. 'الحمد لله الذي أنزل على عبده الكتاب'، يعني القرآن. رتّب استحقاق الحمد على إنزاله، تنبيهًا على أنه أعظم نعمائه، وذلك لأنه الهادي إلى ما فيه كمال العباد، فيكون وصفًا له والداعي إلى ما به ينتظم صلاح المعاش والمعاد ..."

Colophon: No colophon. Ends with: "Fa-idhā jāʼa ajaluhum fa-inna Allāh kāna bi-ʻibādihi baṣīran. Fa-yujāzīhim ʻalá aʻmālihim. ʻAn al-Nabī, Ṣallá Allāh ʻalayhi wa-sallam: 'Man qaraʼa Sūrat al-Malāʼikah daʻatʹhu abwāb al-Jannah an udkhul min ayyi bābin shiʼta'."
الخاتمة: لا يوجد خاتمة. ينتهي النص بـِ: "فإذا جاء أجلهم فإن الله كان بعباده بصيرًا. فيجازيهم على أعمالهم. عن النبي، صلى الله عليه وسلم: 'من قرأ سورة الملائكة دعته أبواب الجنة أن ادخل من أي باب شئت'."

Summary
"Anwār al-tanzīl wa-asrār al-taʼwīl" (Lights of revelation and secrets of interpretation), also known by the title "Tafsīr al-Bayḍāwī" (Commentary of al-Bayḍāwī), a commentary on the Qurʼān by ʻAbd Allāh ibn ʻUmar al-Bayḍāwī, a well-known Shāfiʻī scholar, born in al-Madīnah al-Bayḍāʼ (near Shīrāz, Iran), a judge, Qurʼān commentator, historian and philologist, who wrote in both Arabic and Persian, died in Tabrīz (Iran), in 1286?. The present manuscript is "al-Juzʼ al-thālith" (Third volume), it covers chapters 18-35 of the Qurʼān (Sūrat al-Kahf to Sūrat al-Malāʼikah). Name of copyist and place and date of copying not mentioned, probably from the 18th century.
