Biographical / Historical Note
Paul Zindel (1936-2003) was an American playwright, novelist and teacher. He won the 1971 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for his play, The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds. His play, Ladies at the Alamo, concerns the battle over artistic control of the fictitious Alamo Theatre complex in a large Texas city. The show premiered in New York City at the Actors Studio in 1975, and was staged on Broadway the following year.
Doris Roberts (1925-2016) was an American stage, television, and film actress. Paul Zindel's interview with Roberts was one of several he conducted with a group of actresses and later incorporated into the script of his play, Ladies at the Alamo. Roberts portrayed the role of Dede in the Actors Studio production in 1975.

Accompanied by a group of incomplete mimeograph and photoduplicated script pages, undated, with manuscript annotations by Roberts and dialogue changes in an unidentified hand.
