Summary
The Swiss color scientist and practitioner Aemilius Müller (1901-1989) published numerous color atlases (systematic collections of color samples), color plates, and writings on color theory. In a one-man operation, he led the Chronos Verlag publishing house in Winterthur. His books and teaching aids on color science are not only interesting for the professional world, but also aesthetically very appealing. In science, Aemilius Müller is especially known for his further development of the color theory of Wilhelm Ostwald. In this richly illustrated volume, the color expert Werner Spillmann gives an overview of Müller's extensive oeuvre, with a focus on the impressive late work "Ästhetik der Farbe". Introductory texts classify Aemilius Müller's oeuvre in the context of the color sciences and comment on the life of this idiosyncratic personality.
