Biographical / Historical Note
Jacob Heald (1800-1887) of Wilmington, Delaware, traveled to Ohio with his cousin, Henry Heald, and Jasher H. Dixon to find employment as a government surveyor in 1819. Heald did not obtain a position, and traveled through Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Virginia, and Maryland before returning to Delaware.
