Biographical / Historical Note
Lillian Gish (1893-1993) was an American stage and film actress, writer and director.
Anita Loos (1893-1981) was an American author, playwright and screenwriter.
Summary
Seven autograph and typed letters, signed; one autograph postcard, signed; and one telegram sent by Lillian Gish to Anita Loos from New York City; Rapallo, Italy; Porto-Novo, Benin; and unidentified locations. Gish describes the health of her sister Dorothy Gish, her travels, the heat of Porto-Novo during the filming of the 1967 motion picture The Comedians, her work on an unnamed book, and news of mutual friends. Each item is stamped "From the Estate of Anita Loos." Accompanied by a photograph of Lillian Gish and Dorothy Gish, and two photographs of Anita Loos and her second husband John Emerson.
