Summary
More than half a century has passed since the Scopes trial created deep divisions between the religious and scientific communities centering on arguments over evolution. In the intervening years, the two severely divided camps found areas on which they could agree; the "big bang" theory, for example, was no longer considered to be in conflict with the biblical story of creation. Recently, however, a movement toward more conservative religious views has once again pitted the two groups against each other. In this program, experts including a professor of philosophy and a priest discuss the new conflicts and the issues surrounding them.
