Summary
This special topic poll sought respondents' views on the January 28, 1998, State of the Union Address delivered by President Bill Clinton. Those queried were asked whether they approved of Clinton's message and whether they believed that Clinton possessed the honesty and integrity to serve as president. Respondents were also asked whether they believed the allegations of an affair between Clinton and 21-year old former White House intern Monica Lewinsky, how the allegations would impact Clinton's presidency, whether they believed that Clinton would be able to accomplish most of the proposals that he set forth in the State of the Union Address, and whether there was a right wing conspiracy working against Clinton. The results of the poll were announced on the ABC television program "Nightline." Background information on respondents includes political party and sex.Cf: http://doi.org/10.3886/ICPSR02509.v1
