May God pray on our Master Muḥammad, the Illiterate Prophet, and on his family and all his companions, and grant them peace."
Copyist's colophon: "Wa-kāna al-farāgh min kitābatihi yawm al-Arbiʻāʼ al-mubārak, al-muwāfiq khamsat ayyām maḍat min shahr Rabīʻ al-Thānī [rubbamā Rabīʻ al-Awwal], sanat 1291, iḥdá wa-tisʻīn wa-miʼatayn baʻda al-alf, min Hijrat man la-hu al-ʻizz wa-al-sharaf, ṣallá Allāh ʻalayhi wa-sallam, ʻalá yad kātibihā, li-nafsihi wa-li-man shāʼa Allāh min baʻdihi, al-ḥarī bi-kull malāmah, al-faqīr Ṣāliḥ ʻAlī Salāmah, ghafara Allāh la-hu, wa-li-wālidayhi, wa-li-mashāyikhihi, wa-li-ikhwānihi, wa-aḥbābihi ajmaʻīn.
Translation of the copyist's colophon: "The copy was completed on blessed Wednesday, five days having passed of the month of Rabīʻ al-Thānī [probably Rabīʻ al-Awwal], of the year 1291 of the Hijrah of him to whom belongs nobleness and honor [Prophet Muḥammad = 22 April, 1874], may God pray on him and grant him peace, by the hand of its copyist, for himself, and for whomever God wills after him, he who deserves all blame, the poor ʻAlī Salāmah, may God forgive him, his parents, his masters, his brethren, and all his loved ones. Written at the tomb of our Master, the departed Shaykh Salāmah al-Rās, may God spare us by his blessings the evil of al-Waswās [i.e., He who inspires wicked thoughts, Satan the Devil]. However, this copy was transcribed from a copy which had numerous distortions and many corruptions, in addition to the stifling of disposition and the lack of a sound copy. May God pray on our Master Muḥammad, the family of our Master Muḥammad, the wives of our Master Muḥammad, the descendants of our Master Muḥammad and the companions of our Master Muḥammad, as many times existing in God's knowledge. O God, end our life with faith, as we invoke You, through his high status [Prophet Muḥammad's] with You."

Summary
"Ḥāshiyah ʻalá Tafsīr al-Jalālayn" (Gloss on the Commentary of the two Jalāls), by Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad al-Khalwatī al-Ṣāwī (died 1825 or 1826 in Medina), a Mālikī Islamic law scholar, originally from Ṣāʼ al-Ḥajar, in the Gharbīyah region of Egypt, hence his nisbah "al-Ṣāwī", on the commentary on the Qurʼān of the two well-known scholars: Jalāl al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad al-Maḥallī (1389-1459), an Egyptian, Shāfiʻī Qurʼān and Islamic law scholar, from Cairo, Egypt (Sūrat al-Kahf to Sūrat al-Nās, in addition to Sūrat al-Fātiḥah), who died before completing the entire Qurʼān commentary, and Jalāl al-Dīn ʻAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Bakr al-Suyūṭī (1445-1505), one of the most prolific scholars of the late Mamelukes era (1250-1517), also from Cairo, Egypt (Sūrat al-Baqarah to Sūrat al-Isrāʼ), hence the title of the commentary "Tafsīr al-Jalālayn" (Commentary of the two Jalāls), also called "Mufaṣṣal fī tafsīr al-Qurʼān al-Karīm". The present manuscript is "al-Rubʻ al-rābiʻ" (Fourth quarter) of the four-volume set. al-Ṣāwī finished writing the fourth quarter of his work on Tuesday, four nights remaining of the month of Rabīʻ al-Thanī, 1228 of the Hijrah (27 April, 1813). Copied on Wednesday, 5 Rabīʻ al-Thānī [probably Rabīʻ al-Awwal], 1291 of the Hijrah (22 April, 1874), by Ṣāliḥ ʻAlī Salāmah, for himself. Place of copying not mentioned.
