Summary
Germain grew up in tough circumstances in a materially deprived part of Amsterdam. He once held a bright future as a professional footballer, but things just didn't work out for him. As he chases the elusive ideal of happiness with which we all can sympathize, he meets many obstacles along the way. Missed opportunities, the constraints of his social environment and material temptations are just some of the things that he has to deal with.
